Bottled beer review

So far I have consumed two of the 10+ excellent real ales that I received as an early birthday present from Daniel and Jo, Ben and Zara and Adam and Jess. I promised to review each one as I know how avidly they read the blog!!

Hawkshead Lakeland Gold:
Malty with just a hint of green apples. It is soft and rounded on the palette but sustains a consistent bitterness throughout. A clean, crisp beer that would be delightful if chilled and drunk on a summer's evening. 7 out of 10

Humdinger (Joseph Holt Manchester)
Winner of the Tesco Beer Challenge 2004.Unlike some of the other 'sweet' ales, the Humdinger gets it right, with the honey being an essential part of the taste, rather than just something that makes the label look good. 6 out of 10

Now we are on to the thing in life that matters the most. Real Ale!

I'll buy you a pint in the new Wellington Wetherspoon pub when it opens, Mike! (That's a promise)

Holts do some excpetionally fine beers.
