Unnatural selection

This is the title of an ippr article about the effects of overt and covert selection.

The article's author, Sarah Tough, looks at the FSM take up in England's 164 remaining grammar schools and concludes that 'these numbers make it clear that grammar schools have little positive impact on social mobility.'

The article goes on to argue that the government should look to introduce a system of 'fair banding' in order to ensure that pupils have a better chance of getting into their local school.
