Let's be honest - things don't look to good at present and more problems may be just around the corner. The election that never was, Northern Rock and Diskgate have collectively damaged the government and Gordon Brown in particular. Does this mean that we should all go back to our constituencies and prepare for opposition? Certainly not. 'Events' will always happen and sometimes they damage a government and its reputation and sometimes they are the making of a leader and a party.
The next election is not officially due until the spring of 2010 - plenty of time for future events to end up shaping the eventual outcome.
